Storyboard Text

  • Europeans came to New France.
  • New France, here we come!
  •  The Europeans set up trading posts where they traded tools, guns, and other items for furs and pelts with the First Nations and Metis.
  • Here are two beaver pelts!
  • Here is your hatchet!
  • The rising number of trading posts led to the establishment of a fur trading company: the Hudson's Bay Company.
  • Rupert's Land provided a big opportunity to expand their trading posts and trade with more First Nations peoples.
  • Yay, more goods for us.
  • Rupert's Land
  • Both the Europeans and the First Nations worked hard to get the goods that they wanted.
  • I've finally collected 1000 beaver pelts. Now I can get the HBC point blanket!
  • The king of France will be so happy with all the beaver pelt hats he can now get!
  • This cycle/trade continued for many years and introduced a new way of life for the First Nations.
