  • Battle at Fort Sumpter
  • Battle of Bull Run
  • Battle of Shiloh
  •  After demands of all military items to be turned over to the confederates Lincoln chose to restock fort Sumpter. The union didn’t fire a shot of defense into nearly 2 hours into the fight. April 12, 1861 – April 13, 1861
  • Second Battle of Bull Run
  • On July 16 the union set out with 28,400 troops to attack Confederate forced near Manasses. A Confederate brigade against the union defense resulted in a Confederate victory. July 21, 1861
  • Battle of Antitam
  •  The Confederates had driven the Union back about two miles halfway through the battle. Out of the 62,000 union soldiers and the 45,000 conferences combined, there were 23,000 casualties. April 6th, 1862
  • Battle of Gettysburg
  •  Confederate general Lee split his army to Attack a federal supply base in Manasses. General Lee attacked the Union with the other half of his army and forced them to go back to Washington. August 28-30, 1862
  • Union soldiers heard the plans and attacked the Confederacy along Antietam Creek. After a day of fighting the Confederates retreated to Virginia. September 17, 1862
  • General Lee in high spirits began the second invasion of the North Despite heavy losses the North held their defense and ended Lee’s attempt to invade the North. This battle resulted in the Gettysburg Address and redefined the purpose of the war. This battle happened July 1st, 1863- July 3rd, 1863
