Jacqueline Cochran was born may 11, 1906 in defuniak springs Florida and died august 9, 1980 in indio california. She lived with her mom mary grant and her father Ira pittman. When she was yung her family was in poverty so she work at a textile mill to help her family.
After working in the textile mill she work in a beuty sallon. In 1932 she was on a trip to miami and attended a society dinner and meat Floyd oblum. Floyd suggested that Jacueline learn to fly. After flying for a while in 1935 she meat and befriended Amerlia airhaert.
IN 1953 jacqueline became the first women to break the speed barrier. In 1940 She won the Women‘s National Aviation Association award as the outstanding woman pilot for ’38, ‘39, ’40 and ‘41. In 1941 while serving in the wings for britain program an organization the flew american planes over to britian in world war 2, she became the frist female to fly a bomber.
