  • Hi, my name is Professor Drake. I am a professor of History and Culture. We are going to learn about the emergence of Korea.
  • Korea is a mountainous region, that is slightly bigger than the state of Minnesota. Korea was governed by aristocratic families and hereditary monarchy. 
  • Due to the Mongols, Korea split into three separate kingdoms; the Koguryo to the North, Paekche to the Southwest, and Silla to the Southeast.
  • In Korea the main religion was Buddhism. 
  • Korea adopted Chinese political institutions in order to unify it's territory and remained in power for four hundred years.
  • The Mongols forced Koreans to build ships for Kublai Khan's invasion of Japan. Mongols terrorized the Korean people.
