Storyboard Text

  • "An Advisement Is Not Led by an Advertisement"
  • Do yourself a favor and get yourself a beautiful body like mine by buying this barbell.
  • This is the Cap 100 Vinyl Barbell and it will help you to stay lean and muscular. Everyone loves a man with the right physique and biceps. Do not settle for anything less.  Get ready to get a muscular body for a happier life. Ken is standing next to me, and he is a perfect example of what a real man should look like.
  • It is time to get more serious about exercising. I am going to use this barbell everyday. My body needs some serious changes.
  • My body is still not muscular enough. It feels awkward to look at it in the mirror. I wish I had the body of that model. My life would be perfect if that was the case.
  • They are right, my body is not attractive.
  • While at the store, Barry comes across people promoting a barbell. Although Barry already exercises, the salespeople make him think about his body and how inadequate it is. He starts to believe that buying the barbell will make his life better because he will be more attractive.
  • Barry, do you want to go to the pool tomorrow?
  • Barry buys the barbell and brings it home from the store. He wants to use the barbell everyday so that he can correct his body's imperfections.
  • You are one of the most athletic people I know and your physical health is just as important as your mental health. A muscular body does not make you happy. You have to accept your body.
  • Barry has been using the barbell everyday for an entire week and he has been checking his physique in the mirror. The more that he looks in the mirror, the more uncomfortable he feels in his own body. He starts to feel insecure and upset about his body.
  • Today is a great day. Lets change into our swimming clothes.
  • I agree. I am so glad you are here.
  • After a meeting at work, Barry is invited by Bart, his co-worker, to go to the pool for fun. Barry is reluctant to accept the offer because it would impede on his exercising routine. Barry is scared that his body will look worse if he skips one day of exercise.
  • I am sorry, I have to exercise to build the muscles in my shoulders and biceps. If I miss one day of exercise, I might look worse than I do right now.
  • After Bart figures out that Barry has a negative body image, he wants to help him. They discuss the source of his problem and how to have a positive body image. Barry understands Bart's perspective and agrees to go to the pool.
  • I will!
  • Your physical appearance does not make your self-image any better. The model was there to make you feel inadequate so that you would buy the barbell. Please take a break and have fun with me tomorrow.
  • I was walking through the store and I saw salespeople advertising a barbell. The model that used it looked so happy and handsome that I thought that if I used the barbell, then I would be just like him.
  • The next day, Barry and Bart go to the pool together and they are happy to be there. In the end, Barry learns the dangers that advertisements can pose. He will always remember to accept his body for all of its imperfections.
  • The End
