Storyboard Text

  • Hey, Ms. A, I have a few questions for you. How do you prepare for an earthquake?
  •  Yea I have done earthquake drills, we have a container full of canned food, water and stuff like that.
  • Were you hurt? Did it change you at all?
  • Well, I remember being in an earthquake in 2013 in UCLA preparing for a final at 8am and I woke up and everything was shaking.
  • .....
  • My stuff was falling off the drawer, my computer fell! I remember calling my dad and he was just waking up, so he was just like its okay it was a small one, just prepare for the after shock.
  • Are you scared or mentally prepared for an earthquake?
  • So if the San Andreas fault ruptures I am definitely not mentally prepared. I am not emotionally prepared and I don't want it to happen.
  • How would you react if the fault ruptured or you experienced another earthquake?
  • I would hope that my adrenaline would kick in and I would help keep my students safe, but I think that I would just freeze and cry.
  • How do you think this can impact the people around you?
  • Research on earthquakes is continuously happening, so i think that drills need to happen more often and update as more research takes place.
