- I met Katie when she was only three. I remember seeing her cute little face as she walked passed me. She saw me stuck in the gutter and locked eyes with me. Her smile was as big as her tiny face and inside I felt the same.
- When I was three, my father was busy making a magical collar to send me and a handful of my friend to the earth that we all had briefly heard of. In the daytime, we would be dogs, but as soon as it became dark like Mars was, we would turn into humans.
- Katie and I have always been friends, but it always felt like a one-way relationship and I always wanted to talk back when she told me about the mean girls or when she told me that her best human friend was moving away, but all I could do was wine back in a loving tone.
