While Fagin and Monks are trying to find Oliver, Oliver learns to read and write with the Maylies. Oliver also reunites with Mr. Brownlow.
Monks managed to destroy some of the evidence of Oliver's parentage. Nancy finds out about this action and warns Rose Maylie about Monks' plans with Fagin. Bill Sikes (Nancy's lover) discovers what Nancy has done and murders her because of it. Eventually, Sikes dies while trying to escape the police because of is criminal activity.
Mr. Brownlow ends up finding Monks because he was friends with Monks' father and knows a lot about him. Weird enough, Mr. Brownlow finds out that Monks is the older half-brother to Oliver. Monks was trying to make sure that Oliver didn't receive any of he inheritance money. Monks eventually admits to his plan and Oliver gets the inheritance.
Mr. Brownlow adopts Oliver and they end up living down the street form the Maylies. Fagin is sent to prison and eventually dies while still in prison.
