Storyboard Text

  • Have you ever heard of UbD?
  • No! What is that?!
  • UbD is a backwards design that has three different stages for the teachers to hit
  • What are the stages? Is it beneficial to plan backwards?
  • Thinking about what you want the students to learn is an important part.
  • Teachers need to make sure the students are learning.
  • UbD is a framework that helps teachers enhance their student's understanding while teaching to the curriculum. This framework is a completely backwards design!
  • Wow I have always thought testing was last because that is the last step teachers perform!
  • Testing if the students' understand helps the teachers know what the students are understanding and to what level.
  • Stage three is what others mostly focus on which is the lesson itself!
  • UbD is a three-stage design. The three stages are desired results, evidence, and learning plan.
  • Wow UbD is really cool! I can see how this is very beneficial!
  • Stage 1: Identify desired results In this stage the teachers figure out what they want their students outcomes to be. What do you want the students to learn?
  • Stage 2: Determine Assessment Evidence In this stage the teachers figure out what performance tasks they want to use or if they will use the six facets of understanding. (Explain, interpret, apply, perspective, empathy, and self-knowledge)
  • Stage 3: Plan Learning Experiences and Instruction During this stage the teachers plan the appropriate lessons and activities. The lessons need to follow three goals. These goals are transfer, meaning making, and acquisition.
