In the forest live many different animals. In the picture, you can see birds. The birds are the same species but some have long beaks and some have short beaks. Long/short beaks is a genetic trait passed down through the birds by their parents.
Here you can see the grasshoppers. The grasshoppers live inside of the trees in order to survive being eaten by birds. Grasshoppers are birds favorite food.
In this box, you can see the birds with the longer beaks are having an easier time hunting. Their long beaks enable them to reach into the tree and grab the grasshoppers.
In this box, it is clear that the birds with the longer beaks are eating grasshoppers while the short-beaked birds are not. It can also be seen that there are less short beaked birds than the earlier pictures. This is because the short-beaked birds are dying because they cant eat as easily as the birds with long beaks.
In this box the long-beaked birds have now reproduced and had baby birds. The baby birds also have long beaks. It is also noticeable that there are only two short-beaked birds left. The short-beaked birds are dying out because their traits are not conducive to survival. The long-beaked birds are able to hunt easily with their long beaks, and live long enough to reproduce.
In this box, observations can be made that there are no longer any short-beaked birds. This is because the short-beaked birds eventually die out completely because their beaks make it difficult for them to eat. The long-beaked birds however and remained more fit since their long beaks enable them to survive. They have now reproduced and their offspring has grown up and learned to hunt to keep the population going.
