John and his friends Sven, Rex, and Peter got inside to the school house. when John got inside he started worrying aboutFranny and looked all over for her but counldn’t find her. John thought that since Franny was playing hid and seek she couldn’t make it inside and was still out there.
John ran outside in the loud wind and the heavy snow covering him as he took his last breath of heat to call Franny but still no answer with his eyes closed John realized he was buried alive in snow. Aft falling down in the snow Johns’s teacher Miss Ruell held on tight to a rope and she went down and dragged him inside
After John was rescued he wasleft alone inside to warm up. When he was able to open his eyes, because his eyes were frozen shut, he realized that Franny was by his side. She had been hiding under Miss Ruell’s desk the whole time.
Suddenly the doors flung open and it wasn’t the wind,it was three men. Myra ran over. It was Myra’s dad, Mr. Johnson, and Mr.Lowry. They had three sleds outside and came to save them. Franny and her friends were put onto one sled and John went on a sled with Rex, Sven, and, Peter.
As soon as they left the school house the roof fell off. By accident the roof hit the horses and they got scared and ran and Mr.Lowey flew out of the carriage leaving the boys left alone in the carriage. The boys had one choice, to jump out of the carriage. When the boys jumped out of the carriage they were left alone being piled with snow. The boy had to find somewhere to hid. Rex tried looking around and he noticed that they were near the Ricker farm that had a warm barn with beds so they could stay until the blizzard was past. They crawled and if one fell the other would pick them up and it kept going until they found the barn.
What John and his friend thought was the Ricker barn was just a haystack but John remember last summer a fox tried to sleep in one of their haystacks on their farm and he knew what he needed to do. They broke a hole in the haystack so that they could get inside. Then once they got inside they were way warmer then in the outside storm.
