EXAMPLE 2: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness" (2) This represents ethos as it makes Jefferson's claims sound more legitmate.
We mean well! We are doing this for all of the United States.
God made us all equal with our God-given rights.
"But when a long train of abuses or usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security," (2) This uses logos as it is logical to overthrow an unjust government.
"- and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do," (32) This represents logos as what Jefferson is stating is factual and not subjective.
Anyone who speaks against the King will face death.
We need to do something about this!
