Storyboard Text

  • Woah! This bus finally got seat belts! I wonder why...
  • Did you not hear about  the wreck a few months ago?
  • No! OMG, what happened?!
  • Woah, that's awful! I wonder what made them fly forward.
  • The bus ran into another vehicle and all the passengers...
  • ... flew forward! One guy almost died.
  •
  • ...and an object in motion will stay in motion with a constant speed unless acted on by a force.
  • Let me explain Newton's First Law and inertia.

  • Inertia is the tendency of an object to resist a change in motion.
  • ...the passengers from flying forward. But since there weren't any, the passengers stayed in motion...
  • ...even when the bus hit it's brakes.
  • So, to answer your question, THAT'S why all the passengers flew forward.
  • Wow, no wonder seat belts are SO IMPORTANT.
  • Yep. That's why you should ALWAYS wear one!
