Storyboard Text

  • Thomas
  • ?
  • James the Less
  • Jude
  • He was known as Doubting Thomas because because he claimed that he did not truly believe that Jesus had risen until he touched his wounds. His symbols are carpenter tools because he was a carpenter by trade.
  • Simon
  • James the Less is the brother of Jude. His mother is Mary of Clopas, who is possibly a cousin of Mary (That would mean James is the cousin of Jesus)! He was known as "the Less" perhaps because he was younger. He was killed by a mob of angry Jews because they were angry that Paul had escaped death by appealing to Caesar. His symbol is a club (because he was killed by a bunch of them).
  • Judas
  • Jude was James the Less's brother and like James, he may have been Jesus's cousin. Jude is also known as Thaddeus. He preached the Gospel in Mesopotamia. Jude was thought to be killed by pagan magicians because Jude exposed their tricks. He symbol is an ax, which is what the magicians used to kill Jude.
  • Matthias
  • Simon was from Cana, which is where Jesus performed his first miracle. Simon was the only apostle who was a Zealot. He preached the Gospel in Egypt and then in Persia. While in Persia he was beaten with clubs and then sawed to pieces. His symbol is a saw (because he was killed with one).
  • Judas Iscariot was believed to come from a town in Judea. While following Jesus he handled the group's money (and kept a lot of it for himself). Sadly Judas betrayed Jesus, but later hung himself out of shame. His symbol are silver coins a.k.a. the money paid to Judas for betraying Jesus.
  • Matthias was chosen to replace Judas as an apostle because he was present at the resurrection and followed Jesus during his ministry. His symbol is a lance because it is said that he was attacked by pagans with a lance.
