This storyboard does not have a description.
Grey- The Valley of Ashes
Blue- Dr. T.J. Eckleburg Billboard
Red- Blood (Gatsby's Death)
The valley of ashes is in between East and West egg it is a place of filth and poverty, "gray land and bleak dust," it is where Myrtle and Tom Wilson live (Fitzgerald 23). The valley of ashes holds the rising action, climax, and the falling action, the valley of ashes symbolizes social decay.
The Dr. T.J. Eckleburg billboard is a billboard in the valley of ashes, "The eyes of Doctor T.J. Eckleburg are blue and gigantic," the billboard sits above the valley of ashes high above the other buildings (Fitzgerald 23). Doctor T.J. himself symbolizes God, as he sees and watches over everything.
The color red is used slightly in the story but it has a huge meaning, red represents decline of morality and trouble. We see this when George kills Gatsby, "a thin red circle in the water," the red circle is blood, this action represents Georges decline of morality (Fitzgerald 162).
