In 1800, Thomas Jefferson ran for president and Aaron Burr ran as vice president for the republican party. John Adams ran for president and Charles Pinckney ran for vice president for the Federalists party.

Thomas Jefferson and John Adams did not like each other, as both of them had different political views.
America needs a strong centeral government!
Each state got a total of two votes. In the end, John Adams had 65 electoral votes while Thomas Jefferson and Charles Picnkney had 73.
This was the first president election tie.
