Intelligence theorists walk into a bar
Conversation between Charles Spearman and David Wechsler.
I feel so misunderstood. Even you, my own mentee, discarded my ideas on global intellect.
Why the glum face old chap?
Well see, that's where the misunderstanding comes in. I believe that g is derived from many factors, and while the g-factor is a predictor of intelligence in the areas normally measured on an intelligence test, I believe that true intelligence is not measured on only 1 test. Furthermore, I firmly believe that everyone is a genius at something.
Doc, it's not that your ideas were bad. It's just that the theory of intelligence being universally defined by one tiny little g-factor is not one that is supported by the data.
Right. Like how I am a genius at redefining the field of psychological testing, creating my own tests for measuring intelligence in adults and children and thereby becoming the most widely administered psychological test EVER, and revamping the IQ test as we knew it to better reflect how individuals varied from the norm by scoring by standard deviations.
If we were discussing Gardner's multiple intelligence theory you'd score abysmally low on the interpersonal intelligence.
He-who-must-not-be-named?! That guy is a total quack. He doesn't "believe in" any sort of standardized intelligence testing, not even mine.
My, my. See how it feels to have your life's work thrown away for something "new and improved?"
