Exposition: The morning of the reaping, Katniss and Gale sit on a ledge. Overlooking the valley outside of District 12. They talk about the Hunger Games. Gale says that he & Katniss could run away, leaving their troubles behind.
Beyond the Fence
We could leave you know. Just run & never look back.
Conflict: It's time for the reaping & Katniss dreads hearing the name that's drawn. Effie Trinket pulls a name & it's Primrose Everdeen, her little sister. Not wanting her to go into the Hunger Games, Katniss volunteers as a tribute.
Rising Action: It's down to the last 3 tributes in the Hunger Games. Katniss, Peeta, and Cato. In order to spruce up the games, the Gamemakers send wolf mutations (mutts) to attack the tributes.
Run Katniss! RUUUUNN!
Climax: To escape the mutts, the tributes climb the cornucopia. Cato stands at the edge, with Peeta in a headlock, & Katniss is ready to shoot. Peeta draws an x on Cato's hand, where Katniss shoots. This sends Cato reeling over the edge into the hungry mutts, waiting below. There he slowly suffers, before Katniss takes pity & kills him.
Falling Action: It was just announced that there can only be one victor. Since neither person is willing to kill the other, Katniss and Peeta decide there won't be a victor. They are both going to eat Nightlock, a poisonous berry. Right before they swallow, the Gamemakers announce that they both won.
On the count of 3. 1...2...3.
Resolution: Katniss and Peeta are brought back to the capital after their win, & are made presentable. They then go to a victory ceremony, hosted by Caesar Flickerman. Finally they return home to District 12.
This is the 1st time 2 tributes have won the Hunger Games.
