  • Charlie was at recess with all of his friends. They wanted to have a competition to see who could slide the farthest on the slide. Charlie decided they should use trigonometry to calculate how far they would go if the slide was 10ft tall and 15ft
  • Max realized that if the slide is 10 ft tall and 15ft the angle of the slide would be 48 degrees. cos-1 (10/15) = 48

  • Max slid first and only went three feet. Charlie says that if we make the slide taller we would go father.

  • Charlie made the slide 20ft and 25ft. The angle is now 53 degrees. cos-1(20/25) = 37 degrees

  • David made the slide even bigger than before. The slide is now 40ft tall and 45ft wide. cos-1 (40/45) = 27 degrees

  • David then slid after making the slide taller and went six feet. David won the competition.
