Local Christian and Jewish leaders criticized King and his methods of nonviolent, direct protest.Calling it "unwise and untimely". (Para. 1)
The result from this article was the passage known as Letter from Birmingham Jail. Wrote on April 16th, 1963.
"The purpose of our direct-action program is to create a situation so crisis packed that it will inevitably open the door to negotiation." (Para. 22)
