  • The Reign of Terror began with the execution of Louis XVI. This time period was when people were killing innocent people just because they were unpatriotic. There was a total of 20,000 people killed during this terrible time. It ended with a new government and people angry about high food prices, and Robespierre ideas.
  • The Tennis Court Oath was when the Third Estate moved to the Royal Tennis Court. They did this because they got locked out of the Estates General where they demanded to end absolute monarchy. They promised not to leave until a new constitution giving them all rights they wanted was written.  This promise is known as the tennis court oath.
  • Pre-Revolutionary France was when the French government was bankrupt. Most citizens blames royalty for paying for special luxuries.  Others felt that it was because taxes weren't getting collected. In 1787 the King and the Second Nobility made a new tax system, the King wanted everyone to pay taxes but like before the First and Second Estates refused to.
