  • Arguments Arise
  • Slavery helps out the economy. We need them to function. It is a shame our new president is against it.
  • I strongly believe that secession is the only option.
  • High tariffs on European products is a must. The state should also be able to decide whats good for us.
  • Slavery is wrong. How does it exist if all men are created equally?
  • I feel as though we need to nullify high tariffs... and maybe national intervention is important.
  • Compromises are made
  • As a result of Missouri being established as a slave state, we have decided to make Maine a free state.
  • I can't believe California was entered as a free state....
  • I hear a compromise is in the makes...
  • Georgia Reacts
  • As Georgians, we release this statement explain how although we will not support the Compromise of 1850, we will follow its rules. But know that if Congress attempts to prohibit us from slave trade within Georgia, we will withstand them.
  • During this time period, the country was buzzing with debates over slavery and states rights. Nullification was also a big topic.
  • Kansas and Nebraska React
  • The Kansas-Nebraska act allows us to decide wether or not we would wish for slave-holding to be an activity that goes on within our borders.
  • The Missouri Compromise made arguments even more prevalent. The Compromise of 1850 caused many arguments as well. In response to the Compromise of 1850, Georgia released a statement called the Georgia platorm....
  • The Dred Scott Case
  • The platform also stated that if Congress attempted to debilitate Fugitive Slave Laws, it would cause separation within the union.
  • The Final Straw For Many and Alexander Stephens
  • As President, I declare that all slaves in states in rebellion against the Union are free.
  • Leaving an anti-slavery government!
  • Loyalty to the union!
  • The Kansas-Nebraska Act was passed in attempts to reverse the Compromise of 1850. It was made because of how the Compromise called for Congress prohibiting slavery north of 36°30´.
  • The Dred Scott Case focused on a slave and his wife, whose owner had died. The Supreme Court ultimately ruled that he was a slave, and could not sue. This case caused huge uproar in America
  • My wife and I were previously held in a non slave holding state; therefore, we are free.
  • We are suing Irene Emerson.
  • The Election of 1860 was when Republican, Anti-slavery president Abraham Lincoln was elected. This caused a huge debate within Southern states over secession. Alexander Stephens was a Governor of GA, a U.S. Congressman, Senator, and Vice-Pres of the Confederacy.
  • I am Alexander Stephens. I assisted in the passage of the Kansas-Nebraska Act, and the Compromise of 1850. I also support slavery, but I will remain loyal to the union, and will not support secession.
