Arcisius, the king of Argos, was told by the oracle of Delphi that his grandson, the son of his daughter Danae, would kill him. So he decided to deprive his daughter from having any offspring, he then built a room beneath the earth and imprisoned her there.
Zeus then appeared to her as golden rain and fell into Danae’s body, and Perseus was born. After being enraged by the news, Acrisius left Danae and Perseus out in the open sea.
They eventually arrived at the shores of Serifos island. They were adopted by a local couple, the man was the brother of the king of the island, Polydectes.
