"They live for the nursery." This is an example of a hyperbole because the children will not die if the nursery did not exist. They would still be alive. The hyperbole is saying that the children really adore the nursery and that without the nursery in their lives they would not feel the same.
"It seemed that,at a distance, for the past month, he had heard lions roaring..." The phrase "he had heard" is an example of alliteration because it repeats the use of the H in that particular phrase.
"She nodded excitedly with tears in her eyes." This is an example of an oxymoron because the mother is sad but still crying over what just happened.
