  • Romeo & Juliet: Act 3

  • Scene I: Tybalt challenges Romeo to a fight, but fights Mercutio instead. Mercutio is killed and Romeo decides to avenge his dead friend, even though he loves Juliet.
  • I cannot fight you, Tybalt
  • But I must avenge dear Mercutio
  • "Ay, ay, a scratch, a scratch. Marry, 'tis enough. Where is my page? Go, villain, fetch a surgeon."
  • Fight me Romeo!
  • Scene II: Nurse carries takes the news of Tybalt's death at the hands of Romeo. Juliet decides it was Tybalt's fault and that shhe should not blame Romeo for his actions
  • Romeo has killed dear Tybalt!
  • How can I love the man that has killed my dear cousin! I would rather die than live without Romeo!
  • "Ah weraday, he's dead, he's dead, he's dead!... Alack the day, he's gone, he's killed, he's dead."
  • Oh no, my poor Romeo! Is he dead?
  • Scene III: The Prince decides not to kill Romeo, but to banish him instead. Romeo says he can not live without Juliet, until Nurse comes in and they devise a plan to unite the lovers.
  • You will not be killed, only banished.
  • "'Tis torture and not mercy. Heaven is here where Juliet lives..."
  • Can I marry Juliet?
  • Scene IV: Paris asks Capulet if he can marry Juliet (again). Capulet agrees, thinking it will cure Juliet of grief over her dead cousin.
  • "Sir Paris, I will make a desperate tender of my child's love. I think she will be ruled in all respects by me."
  • Yeah sure.
  • You shall marry Tybalt.
  • Scene V: Romeo leaves Juliet only for her parents to tell her that she shall marry Paris after all. Devastated, Juliet can not believe this news, and her parents are not happy.
  • "O sweet mother, cast me not away. Delay this marriage for a month, a week, or if you do not, make the bridal bed in that dim monument where Tybalt lies"
