  • Britain felt after the French and Indian War that the colonist had to help pay for the war so Parliament began taxing the colonists
  • Britain
  • American colonists wanted to free themselves from Great Britain because the British were having too much control over them.
  • Separation

  • The colonist was angry with Britain because they think they should have a say in parliament
  • All men are created equally. All people are considered of equal value and worth, or equal in the eyes of God.
  • Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness is three examples of the "unalienable rights". The Declaration says that these three examples have been given to all humans by the creator, and which governments are created to protect.
  • Our rights come from our creator and these rights  cannot be taken away. Rights belong to each individual and not to a group of individuals but to each person.

  • 1.To defend our rights the Government is made among men.

  • Some of our rights that we still have and aren't taken away from us are: 1.The right to Safety 2.The right to Education 3.Freedom of speech 4.Right to be protected by the law.
  • 1.When our government becomes destructive we can protest or sign a petition to change the government for the better. 
  • 2.Whenever our government doesn't protect our rights, we can change or get rid of the government and create a new one.
  • The colonist were concerned that King George III was abusing his power. The colonists were upset that the King was limiting their right to self-government.Because the King wasn't willing to listen their concerns the colonists believed they had to change their government since the government wasn't protecting their rights. They declared their independence so they could have a government who would protect their rights.
  • 1.The present King is a history of repeated injuries.
  • 2.He was an unfair ruler over the colonies.
  • 1.We need to explain to the world why we need separation and also what the King and the British government had done that causes us to feel we have to declare independence from Great Britain
