  • Olympic games were first held in Olympia, around 776 B.C. The games were held to honour Zeus, a god known to the Greeks.
  • Not all people could compete in the olympics in ancient greek. Females, Non-greek, criminals and cities who didn’t agree to participate in the olympic truce of the game couldn’t participate in this event.
  • Competing in sports, was one of the ways the Greeks show honour.
  • The victor gets a crown made from olive leaves, which came from a sacred tree, And also walk away with fame.
