Introduction: Emily dies and the towns people all gather at her funeral.
The inciting incident: Emily's father dies. Emily did not want to bury her her dads body because she was claiming he was still alive. After three days she broke and finally buried his body. After her fathers death no one really saw Emily like they used to.
Rising action: There was a rotting smell coming from Miss Emily's house. No one wanted to tell her so four men after midnight came and sprinkled lime around her house to fix the smell.
More parts of the rising action include the tax company going to Miss Emily's house, Miss Emily buying rat poison and Homer Baron and Miss Emily becoming lovers.
Climax: The townspeople forcing themselves into Miss Emily's house, finding Homer Barron's decayed dead body. They also found a strand of Miss Emily's long silver hair next to his body. Suggesting she had laid with the body.
Falling action: Miss Emily and her negro worker slowly getting older and closer to death.
conclusion/resolution: Miss Emily dies of old age and sickness in her house.
