Storyboard Text

  • You need to pay your taxes! If you don't you will be punished.
  • How can I? I don't even have enough money to pay for my family's food.
  • Why don't we start a revolt? Wat Tyler would be a good leader.
  • Why do we have to pay these taxes! We didn't start the war.
  • Well... I guess that is fair so come on people; lets go home. We've got what we wanted.
  • I will lower the tax if you go home and stop looting and setting fire to our houses.
  • King Richard the 2nd is fighting a losing battle in France. He needs money to buy weapons and he is trying to introduce a Poll Tax. The Poll Tax is 4p (£80) and many people are struggling to afford it.
  • The tax collectors made the peasants annoyed because they forced the money off them and they started having thoughts about a revolt.
  • Many bad people such as John Ball were let out of prison to command the revolt. Wat Tyler was the main leader and the people respected and obeyed him. But the criminals involved in the revolt set fire to buildings and looted houses. Wat Tyler chucked these people into the flames. However, when they got to London, King Richard the 2nd lied to them.
