Hi, I am Francis Scott Key. As you can see the flag is still standing after the war. I wrote a song that explains how America won against Britain in the war. This is how the "Star Spangled Banner" was created...
On June 18, 1812, America declared war on Great Britianafter a series of trade disagreements.
There were 35,000 American regulars and 458,000 militians in the war.
During the war, June 18, 1812, the Executive Mansion got burnt down by the British because of trade disagreements.
Roughly 15,000 American soldiers died and 8,600 British and Candian soldiers died from battle or disease.
On September 14, 1812, I composed the "Star Spangled Banner". On September 18, 1812, the word were later set to the tone of "To Anacreon in Heaven".
