  • Now I'm the king of England!
  • In 1051CE, Edward the Confessor (the king of England) promised William the Conqueror his kingdom when he died.
  • King Edward is dead!
  • Did you know Harold Hadrada is the new king of England?

  • Not long after, he promised the same thing to a man named Harold Godwine, the head of a noble family, and more rich and powerful than the king himself.
