"I admit the deed! --tear up the planks! here, here! --It is the beating of his hideous heart!"
A man lived with a old man. The man would be very kind to the old man during the day. However, at night he would quietly sneak into the old man's room. The man had nothing against the old man, for the old man had never wronged him. It was his eye that the man disliked so much. He disliked it to the point he wanted it gone for good.
One night while the man was checking on the old man, the old man woke up. The sight of the eye made the man fill with rage. The man jumped on the old man and pull him off the bed. The old man let out a shriek. Then he proceeded to use to heavy bed to kill the old man.The man felt relief, for the eye was gone.
The police came to the man's house because a neighbor reported a shriek. The man offer the police officers seats and tea. He believed he had nothing to fear, for he had had hid the old man, in pieces, under the floorboard. However, the longer the police stayed the more the man wanted them gone. At last he admits to the crime and tells where he hide the body.
