I can't believe Lincoln wanted me to fight for the Union, i could never fight against my own people.-General Lee
July 1st, evening
We've been driving the Yankees through town all day.
The union Army formed a three-mile long, fishhook shaped line from cemetery hill and ridge to the base of little round top. Confederates held Gettysburg and stretched a six mile long arc around the union position.
July 2nd, daytime
General Lee, we shouldn't have done this... its been 3 hours of carnage already!
General Robert E Lee made a plan for his confederates to attack both flanks of the union line on cemetery ridge.
July 3rd, Pickett's charge
Oh no! Almost all my men are dead!
General George Pickett's division was decimated during a big frontal assault, known as "Pickett's Charge".
More than 50,000 men fell as casualties. It was the bloodiest battle of the American Civil war and was the turning point of the war.
That we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain.
Gettysburg address would become known as one of the best speeches delivered. It was short yet brilliant.
