  • In history, the Tutsi's controlled the kingdoms of Rwanda. They made the Hutu's their serfs, which would lead to conflicts later on.
  • When Rwanda became independent, the Hutu's took control and put the Tutsi's through ethnic cleansing and genocide.
  • The Tutsi's began a civil war, which lead to genocide by and upon the Hutu's and Tutsi's
  • The Hutu's and Tutsi's signed a peace agreement in 1993, but tensions were not over.
  • The peace lasted about 1 year. After a plane carrying the Hutu president was shot down, the Hutu's resumed genocide against the Tutsi's
  • However, it is not known if the person(s) who shot down the plane were Hutu's or Tutsi's
  • 80,000 people were killed in just 100 days of the genocide. The genocide has stopped, but tensions are still shaky among the two ethnic groups.
