  • a plebiscite was held. Since the bourgeoisie was representing the 3rd estate and they were educated, they were talking about the enlightened ideas and how they are used elsewhere.
  • the deceleration of the rights of man and citizen
  • deceleration of the rights of man and citizen
  • the rest of the voters, which includes nobility and 1st estate, closed the doors on the Bourgeoisie, representing the 3rd estate, because they heard them talking about how they should incorporate enlightened ideas in their government.
  • king said absolutely not
  • since they were locked out of the voting room with no way to get in, the 3rd estate decides to pledge to the tennis court oath and the create a new legislative branch called the national assembly .
  • the national assembly would not take no as an answer.
  • the first document created by the national assembly was the deceleration of the rights of man.
  • the 3rd estate brought their document to the king and he said absolutely not, angering the national assembly.
  • they were outraged and would not take no for an answer. They went back to the castle and cornered King Louis III and Marie Antoinette in their bedroom and made them sign it. Once he to signed it, they changed their name to the legislative assembly.
