  • 100 years later
  • Layered!
  • All of these sedimentary rocks can be identified by their salty taste!
  • Sedimentary
  • Metamorphic
  • Igneous
  • Sedimentary rocks are formed when materials such as sand and pebbles collect and form layers. Over time, these layers harden and form stone. Eric had collected Chert and Siltstone.
  • Chert is a solid grey color and Siltstone has a solid red hue. Some sedimentary rocks can also be identified by tasting like salt.
  • Great Job Eric!
  • Using these clues, Eric quickly sorts the rocks and leaves for camp with only minutes to spare!
  • Eric arrives a few minutes late with the rocks organized and back into their bins.
  • Even though Eric was a few minutes late, the group leader is very impressed with the accuracy of sorting. The group leader accepts the rocks without punishing Eric.
  • Eric solves his predicament and enjoys the remainder of his geology trip!
