  • Growing up strong and determined
  • In the Movement
  • LET US VOTE
  • Jailbirds
  • Lynda’s mother died and grandma told her she was special and very strong and determined.
  • Bloody Sunday
  • Lynda heard MLK Jr. speak and knew that she definitely wanted to join the movement.
  • Headed for Montgomery
  • Kids went to march and therefore jailed because adults would potentially lose their jobs if caught marching/protesting.
  • Montgomery At Last
  • While peacefully marching, the Alabama police brutally attacked those marching sending many to the hospital including Lynda.
  • Marchers were protected while marching towards Montgomery. Lynda was still suffering from PTSD from Bloody Sunday.
  • They made it to the capital and were surrounded by thousands of supporters both white and black. MLK gave a speech that would eventually earn voting rights for all.
