Emma Gonzalez is an 18-year-old student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. She had always been a good student who liked to get involved. She just like every other student went to school on a regular day, when disaster struck.
People listened to Emma. Student fought with her, some people in the government were agreeing with her, and she with the help of a few others got the word out to the whole world. One event that was very big was the walk-out. Student all over the country walked out of school for 17 minutes to commemorate the fallen Parkland students.
On February 14, Nikolas Cruz, a former student of the high school entered the school with an armed gun, and tragically murdered 17 people that day. Although Emma was in the school at the time, she thankfully survived this horror show, which was very depressing for not only Florida but all of America.
After the Parkland shooting more followed. This included the shooting in Baltimore, Maryland, where two students were murdered, and the gunman was shot as well. After more and more shootings started to happen, Emma Gonzalez got fed up, and decided to do something about it.
Emma decided the most beneficial thing she could do was get the word out and make people aware of this gun violence. To do so, she spoke to government officials, people involved with the NRA, and other students who could help her fight.
By this point, Emma Gonzalez has made an impact that will go down in history, and will not be forgotten. Her words brought much of the world together, and there were anti-gun marches happeneing all over the world. There were over 850,000 people in Washington DC alone, not including the other marches. Emma Gonzalez showed that anyone, even a kid can make the biggest difference.
