Siddhartha Guatama was born the son of a king and lived his whole life in the palace.
Siddhartha Guatama was born in the 6th century B.C.. His mother died 7 days after his birth.
When he finally wandered outside the palace, he encountered an old man, a sick man, and a dead man.
Disturbed, he decided to mediate until he found the cause of human suffering, and even though Mara tried to disturb him, he persisted.
Why do people suffer?
After 7 days, he finally got his answer, and considered himself enlightened.
For the rest of his life, he travelled the world and taught the Eightfold Path and the Four Noble Truths.
