Sure, in generators, physical energy is transformed into electrical energy when an electromagnet rotates inside coils of a wire. The more turns there are on the coils of the electromagnet, the greater the size of the voltage generated.
Hey, my generator at home has stopped working, could you please explain to me how they work so I can fix it?
Of course, electric motors convert electrical energy into physical energy. When an electric current flows through a wire, it generates a magnetic field. This magnetic field can be increased by coiling the wire. This allows more current to flow through a smaller distance and increases the magnetic field. Electric motors use these magnetic fields to cause a force with a magnet that causes movement or spinning that runs the motor.
It's okay. Can you help me? I have a physics assignment where I need to provide how electric motors work, could you tell me?
Thank you, here's one of an electric motor, including this diagram in your assignment is sure to give you more marks.
Thank you! Here is a diagram of a generator to help you understand how they work
The Electric Toothbrush
Electric motors might be the next gold mine as devices have adopted the use of an electric motor. These devices include fans, electric toothbrushes, blenders, etc. Read about the use of electric motors in this week's issue of Electric Daily.
Electric Motors, The Future?
The electric motor that has been added to a toothbrush has revolutionised the way that we clean our teeth. Manual toothbrushes only move around 300 to 600 times a minute. This is incredibly miniscule to the 48,800 movements per minute that the electric motor provides, removing twice as much plaque (food debris) as manual toothbrushes.
Fans have been a large help to today’s society. They are mainly used to provide a source of cooling. They can be used when it is hot to cool yourself down, or in machines like computers to cool them down when they start to overheat. Fans don’t actually make the room cooler, they just move air over your skin, lowering your body temperature. They can help people feel less stressed and overheated, but most importantly they slow machines from overheating.
See blenders on page 2
Now that was interesting. I think I'm going to invest in an electric toothbrush now.
I already have one, the electric motor is extremely useful, my teeth have been so much cleaner since I bought the electric toothbrush.
