After 20 Years...

Storyboard Text

  • About midway of a certain block, the policeman slowed his walk. In the doorway of a darkened store, a man stood.
  • The policeman on the beat moved up the avenue impressively. Trying doors as he went, twirling his club, the officer looked like a guardian of the peace.
  • It's all right officer. I am just waiting for a friend. There used to be a restaurant here.
  • The man in the doorway struck a match and lit his cigar.
  • Big Joe Brady's Restaurant was torn down five years ago.
  • Twenty years ago, I made an appointment with Jimmy Wells, my best chum and the finest chap in the world.
  • The waiting man pulled out a handsome watch, its lid set with diamonds.
  • That's rather a long time between meets. Well I hope your friend comes along all right. I'll be on my way then.
  • Is that you Jimmy Wells ? You have grown tall. The West has given me everything I asked for.
  • After 20 minutes, a tall thin man came hurrying over from across the road.
  • Is that you Bob? I was certain I'd find you here. How has the West treated you? We'll go to a place and talk more.
  • It sometimes changes a good man into a bad one. You are under arrest Silky Bob.
  • When they reached a drug store, they gazed at each other. The man from the West stopped suddenly and released his arm.
  • You are not Jimmy Wells. 20 years will not change a man's nose from a roman's to a pug's.
  • Going quietly, are you ? Before we go onto the station here's a note I was asked to hand to you. Its from patrolman Wells.
  • The man from the West unfolded the piece of paper. His hand was steady when he began to read it but it trembled by the time he had finished.
  • Bob : I was at the appointed place on time. When you struck the match to light your cigar, I saw it was the face of a man wanted in Chicago. - Jimmy
