Peleus and Thetis have a baby boy, Achilles.Thetis is warned by an oracle that if Achilles goes to war he will win but die young.Thetis dipped him in the river Styx to make him invunerable (Except his heel).Thetis also hides him on an island.
In Troy, King Priam and Queen Hecuba are expecting a baby. Hecuba dreams she gives birth to a flaming torch which burns down the city. Priests warn that if the baby grows to manhood he will cause destruction of Troy. When the baby is born, King Priam orders it to be killed, but he was too beautiful nobody could bring the heart to kill him. They called him Paris.
Because Paris is so beautiful, Zeus chooses him to pick one of three goddesses to receive a golden apple. Each goddess bribed him.He picked Aphrodite who said she will make Helen, the prettiest mortal, fall in love with him. Hera and Athene were enemies of Paris from that day on.
Because of her outstanding beauty, when Helen seeks a husband all those wishing to marry her had been asked to swear an oath promising to help her future husband in the event of anyone stealing her. She chose King Menelaus of Sparta to be her husband.
In Troy Paris can think only of Helen, and when Priam seeks someone to take a message to King Menelaus in Sparta Paris leaps at the chance. When Paris arrives at Sparta he finally sees Helen and at once falls madly in love. But Helen is devoted to her Menelaus and ignores Paris … until Aphrodite, goddess of love, fires an arrow of desire at Helen. Immediately, Helen falls in love with Paris. When Menelaus is called away on urgent business they sail away together and slowly make for Troy.
