Storyboard Text

  • I will rule the whole of the land of Palestine.
  • I will not live in fear of the king.
  • A King from the land of Syria takes over the land of Palestine and forces people to give up their religion. He disrespects and carelessly slaughters a pig and puts it on the alter of a beautiful place of worship in Jerusalem.
  • Many follow and listen to him in fear, others plan to rebel against him. One person was 'Macabey' ; him and his brother gather men to fight against the 'Syrian Army'.
  • There are few soldiers but they still fight against the 'Syrian Army'. The 'Macabeys' fight with bravery and after three days of battle they finally win.
  • After the glorious win, the 'Macabeys' come back to the place of worship to find it thrashed with a pig on the alter. They look at each other with intense disgust on their faces.
  • Soon they start cleaning up, removing the pig & they find that the oil has disappeared. But underneath a chair they find a container with a small amount of oil inside it. They knew that it would only last one night, but they still lit the 'Menorah'.
  • Once they lit the 'Menorah', it stayed lit for eight days and eight nights. At that moment, the 'Macabeys' knew that God was on their side guiding them.
