The food (a cheese sandwich) enters the mouth and the teeth, with the saliva, help turn the sandwich into a mushy paste.
The gullet carries the sandwich to the stomach.
In the stomach, hydrochloric acid breaks down the sandwich and digestive enzymes split up the protein.
The sandwich travels to the large intestine next where the nutrients are broken down.
The small intestine removes the liquid from the sandwich.
The next stop is the rectum where the waste waits to be released through the anus. This means the next stop for us will be the toilet!
