Hi i'm Falisha, and today I will be your world traveler!
As you can see this is the Tigris and Euphrates river!
What do you see?
This is the Ziggurat, it was a big part of their culture.
My job is as a world traveler is to take people to places never seen before. Today we will travel back to 539 B.C
The Tigris and Euphrates river was used for farming because the water gave them fertile soil. They also used the two rivers for fishing.
They are polytheistic that means they believe in many gods.
The Ziggurat was used ad a place for the gods. They believed that the gods lived in the sky in order for the gods to hear better, you needed to get closer to them.
How has this civilization influenced ours?
If we didn't have the U.S. Constitution today who knows how crazy the U.S would be!
They enjoyed wearing jewelry rings. the woman braided their long hair, while the men had long hair and beards. Both men and women wore makeup. They also enjoyed sports such as boxing and wrestling as well as bored games and games of chance using dice.
Clothing was typically made from sheepskin or whool.
They were polythestic that means that they worshipped several major gods and thousands of minor gods. whether Sumerian, Akkadian, Babylonian or Assyrian, each group had its own patron god or goddess.
With the invention of writing came the first recorded laws called Hammurabi's Code it showed them the rules they needed to know. Today we have the U.S constitution and that allows us to make sure we know the rules in order to follow them.
