This is Character vs Character. Nancy claims Percy pushed her then he gets in trouble. Percy says, "I don't remember touching her, but the next thing I knew, Nancy was sitting on her butt in the fountain, screaming, "Percy pushed me!" Page 11.
He pushed me!
This is Character vs the Supernatural. In this conflict, Percy says, "I swung the sword. The metal blade hit her shoulder and passed clean through her body as if she were made of water." I chose this because it was funny and one of the various times where Percy fights a monster. Page 15
Mrs. Dodds was here
In this chapter, it is Character vs Character. Nancy is throwing and putting PB&J wads in Grover's hair. Percy says in the text," Anyway, Nancy Bobofit was throwing wads of sandwich that stuck in his curly brown hair." (Grover) I chose this because of how mischievous Nancy is. Page 4.
You're already on probation,
I'm going to kill her....
This is Character vs the Supernatural. Percy is facing a mythical creature. Percy in this chapter kills the Minotaur that got his mom. In this chapter, Percy says while fighting the Minotaur,"As the monster barreled past, I drove the broken horn straight into his side, right up under his furry rib cage." This was on page 60.
This is Character vs Self because Percy is frustrated at the fact that his dyslexia is messing up his studying. He was also pacing the room, which is an ADHD symptom. In fact, Percy says, "I got so frustrated I threw the Cambridge Guide to Greek Mythology across my dorm room. Words had started swimming off the page, circling my head, the letters doing oneeighties as if they were riding skateboards." He also says,"I paced the room, feeling like ants were crawling around inside my shirt." Both on page 20.
IT'S SO FRUSTRATING!
This is Character vs Character since Clarisse is picking on Percy. In this chapter, Percy says on page 96, "I turned just as water blasted out of the toilet again, hit-ting Clarisse straight in the face so hard it pushed her down onto her butt. The water stayed on her like the spray from a fire hose, pushing her backward into a shower stall."
