  • The unconditioned stimulus is the honk of the car, and the unconditioned response is fear because she thinks she is going to get hit by the car.
  • She hears another car honk, which triggers her fear again. The conditioned stimulus is a honk from any vehicle and the conditioned response if fear that she will get hit.
  • HONK!
  • 1 Week Later...
  • When she waits for the train, she hears the train's horn which produces the same fear response as when she hears a car horn.
  • HONK!
  • AHH!
  • Her response to the train horn is an example of generalization.
  • Generalization has caused her to develop a fear of all types of loud noises that vehicles make.
  • AHH!
