Storyboard Text

  • Perseus went to think by the sea, and there he was met by Athena and Hermes. They gave him gifts; a shield from Athena, and a sickle from Hermes. Hermes told him while he was gone, the fisherman Dictys would watch over his mother. They directed him to the Grey sisters who only had one eye and tooth amongst them.
  • Perseus crept up to the cave and took the sisters' eye. He told them he had their eye and they swore on the river Styx they would give him answers. He learned they way to magic land where he received the Shoes of Swiftness, a wallet to hold Medusa's head, and the Cap of Darkness from the Northern Nymphs.
  • Then Perseus came to the land of the Gorgon's and saw the sisters lying asleep in the sun. He snuck up behind Medusa and looking at her reflection from the shield. With one strike of his sickle, the head of Medusa was cut off. He placed the head quickly in the wallet and was ready to leave but the hissing of the snakes awoke the sisters and they chased him to the sea. Luckily he was wearing the Shoes of Swiftness which carried him over the sea while w was traveling through the night.
  • In the morning, he sighted the shore and saw a young lady chained to a rock, sobbing. He began talking to her and found out her name was Andromeda. He asked why she was chained and she told him that her mother offended the sea nymphs and got in trouble. Her father, King Cepheus, put her there as a sacrifice to a terrible sea monster hoping that the monster would go away. Perseus said he would save her and he did. While he was speaking to Andromeda the monster sprouted out of the water and Perseus flashed it the face of Medusa. It turned to stone and Andromeda was saved.
  • Since he loved Andromeda so much, they married and her father gave them his blessing. At their wedding reception, a man named Phineus came and said Andromeda was his and if they didn't hand her over he would slaughter every man and take the women for slaves. Perseus then showed him the face of Medusa and he turned to stone. They then left to Seriphos where Perseus showed King Polydectes the face of Medusa.
  • After he showed King Polydectes Medusa, Hermes came and took back all of the gifts. He also took Medusa's head, and Athena put her face on the center of the shield. After this Dictys became King of Seriphos and married Danae.
