Salva is sitting at school daydreaming about at home. He is daydreaming about herding cattle before coming to school. He is daydreaming about his family and about doing chores with his brothers.
The rebels start shooting at people in Salva's village. The teacher tells the students to run as far from the rebels as they can, but do not go home. Salva and his classmates run into the bush. Salva keeps thinking about his family an how much he wants to go home.
