External Conflict: Man vs. Society
External Conflict: Man vs. Man
That was my greatest mistake!
An internal conflict is with Ruth, because she is pregnant and has to decide whether or not to get an abortion. She is making this decision because the Younger family does not have a lot of money or space in the house or another person.
"Ruth is thinking 'bout getting rid of that child...When the world gets ugly enough- a woman will do anything for her family. The part thats's already living."
An External conflict is when Mr Lindner doesn't want the Younger family to move in the white neighborhood, and is being racist because they are black. He's trying to buy them out so that the neighborhood could supposedly get along better, because they share a common background.
"Clybourne Park? Mama, there ain't no black people living in Clybourne park... Well, I guess there's going to be some now."
He makes me stick to my stomach!...And you turn mine too, baby! That was my greatest mistake."
An external conflict between Ruth and Walter is present because they always fight and get into arguments, this was one of the most serious of these is when Walter calls Ruth a mistake because she doesn't want him to go out and drink.
